ENTER THE APS YouTube PHILATELIC VIDEO COMPETITION

The American Philatelic Society is sponsoring the 3rd annual YouTube Philatelic Video Competition. The contest will run from February 1 to May 31, 2012. Entries will be judged by three accredited American Philatelic Society judges in June, and winners will be announced in July.

Prizes - Videos will be recognized as an overall champion, plus four categories: youth (under 18), adult, APS Chapters and Clubs, and a professional category – to include stamp dealers. The prize for the overall Champion will be $250.00 and the winner of each category will receive $50.00.

How to Enter/Guidelines:

All entries must be received by May 31, 2012

Entry is FREE

Multiple entries permitted

Open to all ages

Each entry must be submitted using the Entry Form and sent to the address indicated.

Recommended length is 2-4 minutes, with a maximum of 10 minutes, the limit that YouTube will accept.

Format may be any that can be saved as a video and uploaded to YouTube. For information on creating and uploading videos visit www.google.com/support/youtube/.

Content may be anything philatelic, but should show the development of the subject matter. See general categories and examples on the APS web page - www.stamps.org/Stamp-YouTube-Videos. Or you can visit the APS Channel on YouTube - www.youtube.com/AmericasStampClub.

Promoting collecting is an important aspect of the competition, and the end of the video should include references and web addresses where viewers can find more information about stamp collecting: 2ww.stamps.org, www.learnaboutstamps.org, and www.arago.si.edu.

Promoting your video is also important, and when you upload it to YouTube, you can add tags – key words that will allow it to show up in searches. In addition to stamps and philatelic, your tags and key words should reflect the content, such as topic name, country name.
