The APS Stamp Collecting 101 is a mini-seminar where participants have the opportunity to learn a lot about stamp collecting in a short period of time. Held in conjunction with StampShow each August and the APS Winter Show in January/February, this workshop provides the opportunity for beginning collectors to learn the philatelic essentials.
Note: Session is designed for adult beginners
(ages 15 and up only, please.)
Learn the Basics, Including:
How to get started
Where to find stamps
When to soak stamps (and when not to soak)
How to safely store your collectibles
How to use catalogs and reference materials
How to use the necessary tools of the hobby
How to identify worldwide stamps
Each Participant Receives:
Helpful handouts and brochures
Stamp tongs, magnifier, stock page, and worldwide stamps and covers
An opportunity to look through a huge pile of worldwide stamps to practice stamp identification. (Take some stamps to add to your collection!)
Personal attention and answers to your questions.
A chance to explore the APS show, including dealers, exhibits, seminars, and so much more.
Registration
Registration is required, you may use the online forms above marked "February" or "August".
The fee for supplies is $15 for APS members and their spouses, $20 for non-members.
